B-FAST - Belgium sends more than 500 tents to Gaza in anticipation of winter.
As part of its ongoing commitment to emergency aid, Belgium has organised a new operation to send relief supplies to Gaza. On Wednesday 11 September, a Belgian Defence A400M aircraft took off from Melsbroek airport bound for Jordan, carrying more than 500 tents for the people of Gaza. These robust family tents, adapted to winter conditions, were supplied through B-FAST.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Belgium has sent for over €1.25 million in emergency aid in the form of tents, medical and hygiene products, food rations and other basic necessities. In addition to the current shipment of tents, Belgium has already supported the people of Gaza through several other missions, notably at the beginning of 2024, when medical products were sent to hospitals in Gaza and Egypt.
With this initiative, Belgium is reaffirming its solidarity with the people of Gaza and its commitment to providing emergency aid until conditions improve.
B-FAST is the federal government structure that is activated when emergency aid is provided abroad and is made up of the FPS Interior, the FPS Strategy and Support (BOSA), the FPS Health, Defence and the FPS Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, and in which the Prime Minister's Office is also involved.
